Rahu: the Planet of Unending desire and Attachment.

In Vedic astrology the Rahu and Ketu are accredited as planets –they are members of the Nabagraha (nine planets) in the planetary assembly.  Actually they do not have any physical shape, size and structure. In reality they are the two nodes of the Moon (Lunar Nodes) –the mathematical points –the points where the orbit of the Moon intersects the ecliptic (the ecliptic is the pathway along which the sun apparently moves around the earth; it is called the Sun’s apparent path because from the earth it seems that the Sun is moving –in fact the ecliptic is the pathway or the orbit of the earth).  The northern point of intersection is called the North Node or ascending node and the Southern point the Southern Node or descending node.   In Hindu mythology and Indian astrology these two lunar points are called as Rahu and Ketu. They are always   exactly 180° apart from each other, e.g., if Rahu sits at 25°-20´ in Aries, then Ketu inevitably falls at 25°-20´ in Libra, and as such they are

Mercury: the planet of Intellect and Communication.

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and never farther than 28 degrees. He takes 87 days and 23 hours to orbit the Sun and stays about 30 days in a Zodiac sign. In the zodiac, Mercury rules over Gemini, the airy sign, and Virgo, the earthy sign.   Gemini and Virgo fall in the    common or mutable category of zodiac signs; mutable or common signs indicate changeable and indecisive nature. The Mercury of Gemini represents sharp intellect, inquisitiveness, curiosity, memory power, inventive faculties, wittiness, humour, analytical power; exploring and research oriented nature, unstable and changeable and extrovert nature whereas the Mercury of Virgo represents a nature of expertise in planning and executing with a sole objective of gaining material advantage –fulfilling epicurean pursuit.   Mercury signifies intellect and communication; it is also called the messenger planet: in the context of the present era, the planet of mass communication. Mercury is very curious and ha

Venus: the planet of Love, Beauty and Romance.

The Venus is the second brightest star of the solar system and the only planet that travels to the closest proximity to the earth (38 million kilometers) comparing the other planets.   She stays about 30 days in a sign of the zodiac and is never above forty-eight degrees from the Sun; therefore, she is never two signs away from the Sun. The Venus and Moon are considered as the feminine planets in the planetary cabinet.   The Venus is called the #Goddess of love and beauty. In men’s birth chart the she signifies wife. Mars: The Planet of Valour, Audacity and Determination.

According to astronomical facts the Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the immediate next one from the Earth in order of distance. Both the earth and the Mars follow elliptical orbits and Mars’s orbit being much larger than that of the earth, the distance between the earth and the Mars is not always the same; the maximum and minimum distances are 401 million km and 54.6 million km respectively and, the average distance is about 225 million km. It is called red planet because it looks red from the earth. In astrology Mars is called as the planet of war; Venus is called the planet of peace and love. Mars vs. Venus: war and peace. Mars is a masculine and natural malefic planet. In the zodiac it rules the signs Aries and Scorpio.   The Aries’ Mars signifies steadfastness and quick action. He is sanguine and agile. On the other hand, the Mars of Scorpio is a mental warrior; he strongly builds up its defensive wall before it attacks another.  He is the reservoir o

Moon: The Planet of Subconscious Mind and Basic Behavior.

#Role of Moon in your birth chart. The moon is the only natural satellite of the earth which completes one orbit around the earth in about 27 days and being the satellite of the earth, it is the nearest one of all the celestial bodies. The average distance between the earth and the moon is said to be only 384,400 km; the orbit of the moon being non-circular, the distance between the two changes approximately 1000 km in 6 hours. In relation to the zodiac signs, the moon travels 12° in average in 24 hours (it varies between 11° and 13°). The moon being the nearest celestial body to the earth, it exerts its influence greatly on the earth and the mind of human beings; the most glaring example of this force is the tides on the ocean and the noticeable changes seen in the    behavior among lunatics. In Vedic predictive astrology the moon occupies a very important and a special position. For predictive purposes, the Chandra kundali, the sign in which the moon falls, is also treat
