Moon-Ketu Conjunction effects in Horoscope

Moon-Ketu conjunction in a horoscope is not considered a good conjunction. The conjunction of Ketu with any planet except Jupiter is not considered a good combination. Of all the other combinations, the Moon-Ketu combination in a horoscope is considered one of the worst combinations. This combination of Moon-Ketu is also called Grahan dosh, and is considered a kind of Shrapit dosh or a curse-inflicting combination.

It is observed that this very combination delivers around 80% bad and only about 20% good results in a native’s life. But, in this context, I would like to draw your attention to Lord Sri Krishna’s birth chart. Lord Sri Krishna had a Moon-Ketu combination in the ascendant with a Taurus ascendant. The exalted Moon in Taurus ascendant had Rohini Nakshatra. But the negative effects of this worst conjunction stand nullified under the following conditions:

1)    When the male planets, i.e., the Sun, Jupiter, and Mars, are placed in their own. Mooltrikone or exalted signs; if three of these planets are placed in this way, then the bad result-giving capacity of this conjunction is almost altogether nullified, and if two or one planet is placed this way accordingly, the amount of nullification is to be ascertained.

2)    If Mercury is also placed in a dignified way in the chart and free from any malefic influence, then this condition also gains power to nullify the bad effects of the Moon-Ketu combination to a certain extent.

3)    Jupiter possesses a divine power in his aspect. If Jupiter casts its 5th or 9th aspects on the Moon-Ketu combination, then the Moon-Ketu conjunction loses its evil effects to a great extent.

4)    Similarly, if the Moon is in the waxing phase and placed in his own or exalted sign, then the evil effects of this Grahan dosh are disinfected to a considerable extent.

It is noteworthy that Lord Sri Krishna’s birth chart, the Moon and Mars are in their exalted signs, and the Sun, Jupiter, and Mercury are in their respective own signs.

To logically understand the effects of the Moon-Ketu combination in a horoscope, we do need to understand the significations or the Moon and Ketu stand for in Vedic astrology.

The Moon stands for our mother, mind, feelings, thought process, emotions, desires, peace and comfort, home and property, education, retention power, and memory power. The Moon also represents the day-to-day money income. According to science, of the total body mass 70% is fluid or liquid, including the blood. Mars, the red planet, rules the blood in astrology, and the Moon governs the flow or the movement of the blood in our body.

On the other hand, Ketu is a headless, shadowy, and mysterious planet. Ketu represents spirituality, intuition, psychic ability, research ability, illusion, salvation, or mokshya, isolation, separation, suddenness, sudden change, and accidents. Therefore, Ketu governs all the non-material stuff; it tends to give us trouble, obstacles, and difficulties, and thereby tries to turn our attention toward spirituality and salvation.

The Moon is a soft and delicate planet; on the other hand, Ketu is a cruel planet.

The bad effects of the Moon-Ketu combination: -

The Moon-Ketu combination gives overthinking. Individuals with Moon-ketu combination in their birth charts think excessively without reason, even over petty issues. They fail to identify their inner potential and lack confidence in themselves. Normally, they remain confused with their goal and mission in life and become directionless.

They like to stay alone, in isolation, and detached from others. Emotional instability, mood swings, anxiety, and stress are other identifying marks in individuals with Moon-Ketu conjunction in their birth chart. They find it difficult to share their emotions; hence, they suppress them and remain emotionally distanced from others, even their family members. At home, they keep them isolated from others and tend to confine them inside their room most of the time.

They generally remain indifferent to their immediate situation and environment. They are usually unsuccessful in relationships as they are emotionally unstable. The relationship with the mother usually remains volatile and filled with bitterness. This conjunction of Moon-Ketu also causes the native to separate from their mother: the separation could be either of emotional or physical or both.

Their daily routine is very much unstructured; sleeping, waking time table, and sleep hours are also very uncommon and unusual. They generally have an unstable mind and fail to give the required degree of attention to their work.  Students with this conjunction in the birth chart cannot concentrate on their studies for a longer period, especially if this conjunction is influenced by malefic planets.  They read a few lines, or a few pages of the lesson or the book, and start turning away the pages and read randomly with fleeting attention. If the Moon-ketu conjunction is in a bad house, the Moon. Mercury, and the ascendant lord are weak and additionally influenced by malefic influence, then one may suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, and paranoia.

The Moon-Ketu conjunction in the birth chart, especially in the 2nd house, 6th house, and 8th house, tends to cause financial fluctuations and instability.

The mothers of the persons with this conjunction are overly spiritual and excessively religious, and observe fasting on almost every other occasion they may justify for the cause. Another noteworthy point is that the mother suffers from severe joint pain in her body, especially after the age of 48. The person himself or herself, with this conjunction, also suffers from joint pain. The other physical diseases this conjunction gives are dehydration, impurities of blood, and urinary tract-related issues if this conjunction is formed in the 7th house and or in the Libra signs.

The good effects of the Moon-Ketu conjunction: -

Ketu stands for intuition, psychic ability, spirituality, research, investigation, and the study of the esoteric branch of knowledge; the Moon stands for mind. Therefore, people with the positive Moon-Ketu conjunction in their birth chart are intrinsically intuitive and psychic.

They have a great penchant for learning the esoteric branch of knowledge, such as astrology, numerology, tarot card reading, and clairvoyance, and can achieve great heights in these domains. Psychology is another subject in which, by default, they show great interest.

Many great psychologists and psychiatrists are seen to have been born with this Moon-Ketu conjunction in their birth chart, especially in the 8th house of the chart. Their concentration level in the learning of these subjects is very high, and they deep dive into the study of these subjects. They also show their interest

In the study of science subjects, carry out research work. They are spiritually inclined people and can make great spiritual leaders, religious preachers, clerics, and abbots.

Varsha Pravesh, Varshaphal and Muntha effects.

Varsha Pravesh or Varshaphal and Muntha system of horoscopy are originally Arabian concepts which might have come to India through interaction between Arabian and Indian astrological scholars approximately 1500 years back.  For its Arabian origin, this system is called Tajika or Tajik system and it is employed for casting    only the annual progression horoscope but not the natal horoscope. The Varsha Pravesh system has been in practice in India since the time of Barahamihira (505 -587), the famous Hindu astronomer, mathematician and astrologer who wrote many books on auguries, and authored the Brihat-Jatak and the Laghu-Jataka, the two great treaties of astrology. Until then the Tithi Pravesh system had been employed in casting annual horoscope in India. Although Varsha pravesh and Muntha differ in the method of casting the annual charts but for drawing the inferences for forecasting the events of life the findings of both the charts are employed. So, they are c...
