Annual Chart And Muntha in Astrology.

The end of every year is a milepost of the odyssey of our life and a prelude to a new year- a year of vibrant hopes and dreams! We count how much we achieved and how much not in the year that just said goodbye to us to become just another notch in the infinite scale of time.
With the entrance of a new year, in our society, there has been a vogue of drawing an annual horoscope or examining the annual progression of our birth charts with the objectives easily explicable to us all.

As for the annual horoscope of an individual is concerned, besides the progression chart, there are other two methods of forecasting whether the year will bode well or not.

They are Varsha Prabesh (entrance to a New Year/ next year/age by the native in question) and the Muntha system. The Varsha Prabesha is an Indian system and the Muntha system is an Arabic system.
The combined application of the Varsha Prabesh, Muntha, and the native chart makes the prediction on the annual account of a native highly accurate.
Besides, the Varsha Prabesh chart and the Muntha chart as combined one can also give a general indication of the annual account of a native and which even an individual without being versed with the glossary of astrology also will be able to look through indications. Varsha Prabesh means the exact moment of a day of a year when one enters to another year of his/her life.

Calculation of Varsha Prabesh or drawing up the Varsha Prabesh chart: The most authentic data for the calculation of the Varsha Prabesh of an individual is the longitude of the Sun in his/ her birth chart and his/her present location. Suppose, Mr X, is 25 years old.

The longitude of his birth chart is Aries, 10°-15´-30´´ and the present location is Guwahati, Assam, India. Now, Mr X’s Varsha Prabesh will be the moment of the day the Sun reaches 10°-15´-30´´ in Aries in 2018.

This is the most accurate point of time and the day when Mr X will complete his/her 26 years of age and inter to 27 years. This happens on April 24, 2018, at 20:09:34 hrs.

Therefore, on the basis of this point of time and the place Guwahati, Mr X’s annual chart for the year 2018 will be prepared. In other words, the time of birth is replaced by the longitude of the Sun.

The method of the construction of an annual Progression chart/Varsha Prabesh chart and its interpretation are the same as that of the birth chart. The lord of the Varsha Prabesh chart helps to indicate a general account of the year, i.e. the result is average or less than average or more than average.
Muntha Method: The Muntha moves 2°-30´ in a day; therefore, it takes 12 months or one year to complete one round around the 12 signs of the zodiac. It is to be especially noted that the Muntha locates at the ascendant (Janma Lagna) at the time of birth.

So, when one’s age is more than 12 years, the current location of the Muntha is traced by simply dividing the age by 12 and the remainder is location. For example, 14÷12 gives out remainder 2. By 2, we mean the 2nd house from the ascendant of the birth chart.

Now, supposing that Mr X’s birth ascendant is Libra and he/she is 27 years old in 2018, his/her Muntha will reside in the 3rd house from Libra, i.e. in Sagittarius.
The outlines of Prediction Methodology (based on Muntha):
The year will be benefiting for the native when:-

1)   The Muntha lord is located in the Muntha itself or aspecting the Muntha. 2) The friendly planets of the Muntha lord are occupying the cardinal houses from the Muntha. 3) The Muntha lord is located in the in the 9th or10th or 11th house from the Muntha. 4)    The Muntha and its lord or   Muntha/ its lord happen/ happens to reside in the 9th or 10th or 11th house from the Muntha, ascendant of Varsh Prabesh chart and birth chart.

The year will be conducive to gaining immovable property and the likes when the Muntha or its lord resides in the1st or 9th or 10th or 11th house from ascendant of the birth chart and the Varsha Prabesh chart (Progression chart of the year)

The chances stand accentuated in this condition and especially when the same is indicated by the birth chart also. The growth of immovable property and other material gain are indicated when Rahu is located in the Muntha in absolute conjunction. But, when Rahu is in the Muntha but not in conjunction, it indicates the loss of properties.

The year will be detrimental if:

1) The enemy planet/planets of the Muntha lord is/are residing with the Muntha or aspecting it. 2) The enemy planets of the Muntha lord are occupying the cardinals from the Muntha. 3) The Muntha lord is in the 4th or 6th or 7th or 8th or 12 house from the Muntha.

Loss of landed property/immovable property is emphatically indicated when the Muntha resides with the 4th or 6th or 7th or 8th or 12th house from the ascendants of the birth chart and the Varsh Prabesh chart. The same results will be produced when the lord of the Muntha happens to reside with the 4th or 6th or 7th or 8th or 12th house from the ascendants of the birth chart and the Varsha Prabesh chart.

The average results will be felt when Muntha resides in the 1st or 2nd or 3rd or 5th house from the ascendants of the Varsha Prabesh and the birth charts.  When the Muntha lord resides in the   2nd or 3rd or 5th house from the Muntha, and the ascendants of the Varsha Prabesh and birth charts, it again indicates a difficult year with average results.

In this connection, there are two more very simple methods of knowing the annual accounts of a native. They are Samayesh (lord of day half/night half) and Trairashish.  The Sun is the Samayesh, if the Varsha Prabesh takes place during the day half of a day and the Moon is Samayesh, if the Varsha Prabesh takes place during the night half of a day.

Trairashises are also worked out on the basis of the Varsha Prabesh Lagna (Ascendant). They are 24 in number depending on whether the Varsha Prabesh has taken place during the day or night: 12/12 for each half as shown in the following table:

The lords of the ascendants of the birth chart and the Varshes, Muntha, Samayesh and Trairashis are called the ‘Panchadhish or Panchdhiar’ or the ‘Lords of Five’. The strongest one of the ‘Lords of Five’ is called the ‘Varshapati’ by the configuration position of which the native’s general accounts of the year are predicted.

This is, however, a supplementary exercise which tells only whether the New Year will go very fine or just fine or average or below average.
