Chaughadia Muhurt.

Chaughadia Muhurt connotes the matrix of auspicious and inauspicious time segment within the 12 hour time-frame. Calculation of the chaughadia Muhurt is based on the five basic components of PANCHANG i.e. lunar calendar: i) days of the week, ii) the lunar days (including the two lunar phases), iii) Nakshatras, iv)Yogs and v) Karanas.  The time period between the sun rise and sun set has eight muhurtas and; the time period from the sun set to sun rise in the next morning also has eight muhurts. They are: i) Uddeg, ii) Char or chal, iii) Laav, iv) Amrit, v) Kaal, vi) Suuv, vii) Rog, and viii) the same muhurt with which the day or the night begins with. The time span of each muhurt is equal i.e. 90 minutes. Of thses muhurts, the Laav, Amrit and Suuv muhurtas are considerd very auspicious or propitious for starting all mangalik activities and the Uddeg, Kaal and Rog are unauspicious for beginning anything good.
